WE PREPARE TO WORSHIP GOD

“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community.”

Anthony J. D’Angelo

PRELUDE

WELCOME

INTROIT

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsively, from Psalm 121)

I look to the mountains.  Where will my help come from?

My help will come from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

God will not let you fall.  Your protector is always awake.

The protector of Israel never dozes or sleeps.

The Lord will guard you.  God is by your side to protect you.

The Lord will protect you from danger.  God will keep you safe.

*HYMN:    #634    “To God Be the Glory”    Glory to God Hymnal

PRAYER OF INVOCATION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison)

Compassionate God, you have given us rules to follow but we have chosen our own path.  You ask us to be obedient but we practice rebellion.  You offer us many blessings but we try to take the credit.  Remind us of your law, your protection, and your mercy.  Fill our hearts with a renewed desire to follow your will.  For all these things, we pray in the name of your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ…

Children are especially important to this congregation.  We don’t mind their minor disruptions and movements.  If your child becomes more active than is comfortable for you or those around you, we have a nursery located in the lower level where the worship service can still be heard.
