My twin-sister Cindy and I are Wisconsonites born in Stevens Point and we attended schools living in Appleton and La Crosse, WI. I went to undergraduate school at UW-La Crosse, received a B.S. in Medical Technology, and a minor in Chemistry. After thirty-three years in the medical profession, I attended Edgewood College in Madison, WI while working at the hospital lab part-time, earning a M.A.T.S. (Master of Arts in Theological Studies) in 2001. I commuted to Chicago McCormick Theological Seminary for my required languages  and completed an M.Div. (Masters in Divinity) in 2003.  I received a call in Cambridge, WI, in June of 2006 and was ordained and installed as a Pc (USA) Minister of the Word & Sacrament at Oakland-Cambrian Presbyterian church in the fall of that year.

My involvement in the Madison community as a volunteer includes being a certified/trained ambassador/facilitator for the WI Medical Society's 'Honoring Choices' in their advance care planning program. I am also a member of the ASC (Association of Spiritual Caregivers) at Meriter Hospital. Through the School of Hope I tutor 3rd and 4th graders in my neighborhood school weekly. I am a volunteer at the Attic Angel Association. I am a member of PEO Sisterhood WI, Chapter BC, and am presently president of my chapter.  I am the asst. treasurer of the State PEO H.E.L.P. Fund, Inc.  I belong to the Esther-Naomi Circle, and attend knitting, book club, and Soul Sisters at Covenant Church. I am a University League board member, and I also see my spiritual director monthly (since 1999)!

Rick and I cherish family and spend much time with our siblings and their families. We are avid UW sports fans of football, basketball, hockey, and volleyball. We have been golfing members at Blackhawk Country Club for over fourty years.

I am the Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Pardeeville for 1 1/2 years now, and I look forward to building a relationship in Christ with the congregation as well as those of you who are just learning about our church from this website. We especially welcome you to our worship services weekly and we welcome your participation with us in our mission work and where God is leading us together in God's Kingdom.

Pianist

Jen Powers

My “career” in music performance began at 4 years old when I sang “Away in a Manger” at my home church, the United Methodist Church, in Portage, WI.  I have been singing and later playing piano ever since. I started piano lessons when I was 6 years old.  I became active in choir in 5th grade and band in 6th grade.  I have been playing professionally for church services for 20 years. I first started at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portage, WI when I was 15 years old.  I have been playing for services at the Portage United Methodist Church ever since.  I have also directed a youth choir, helped direct the Sunday school music program and led several other musical groups including an a cappella group in college!  I have a Master’s degree in Counseling and I worked with the Ho-Chunk population at the House of Wellness in Baraboo, WI for 3 years.  Right now, I am working on getting fully-licensed as a counselor.  Two years ago, I started playing at both the First Presbyterian Church of Pardeeville and the United Methodist Church of Pardeeville.  Today, I not only play for the FPC in Pardeeville, but I direct their women’s choir and mixed choir and am an active member of the Worship and Music Committee.  I am also currently volunteering through the Portage United Methodist Church as a musician at their Pizza Church and Heritage House Services and as a musician and a member of Portage chapter of the United Methodist Women.  I also assist with our 5-6-7 club in our Portage chapter of LOGOS, and am a co-facilitator of our new winter session of the Grief Share support group.  I play piano and sing at local nursing homes and for the art galas at the Portage Center for the Arts when I get the chance.  I live at home with my parents and my dog, Margo.
